"This exquisite piece is a heavy and finely cast Antique Winged Sphinx Figurine, modeled after the mythological creature found in ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian traditions. It features the classical Greek representation of a sphinx: a creature with the body of a crouching lion, the outstretched wings of a bird, and the torso and head of a woman.

The figure is executed in patinated bronze, evidenced by the deep, dark-green and teal-blue (verdigris) oxidation that has developed naturally over the metal's surface, lending it a rich, antique patina and historical character. The base of the piece shows signs of an underlying earthen or iron-red pigment, suggesting it may have been unearthed from a site or mounted on a complementary material in the past.
